Packaging Design Must Haves

We are loving the recent trends and standards for packaging design!

As we saw an increase in online ordering, due to the pandemic, it became apparent that people were not only sharing the actual product, but how they received the box or pouch it came in and how it made them feel.

Big and small businesses alike take the time to design boxes, pouches, and more to enhance the customer experience- giving customers something to remember and come back to experience again.

This is your sign to invest in a packaging design that makes your brand the go-to for your customer with your product!

Athena Club packaging example. Exterior: Athena Club: Better Made Simple. Interior: Packaged with (Self-)Care. Taking care of yourself? Great. Taking care of the planet while you take care of yourself? Even better. That’s why this box is made of 78% recycled materials and is 100% recyclable.

Let’s agree to not make this difficult. Raine and Rose are firm believers in trusting experts or doing tons of research to ensure you are showing up for your brand in the best way possible. Part of a brand includes its integrity and ability for customers to recognize it in a crowded market. Regardless of whether you DIY or hire a designer there are some key concepts you should understand about your packaging:

  • Color matters (use up to 3 of your brand colors for the design of your package, try to keep it simple as the product should be the main highlight, the packaging acts as a support in the customer experience)

  • Your message before and after opening matters (keep it relatable to the customer or your brand/industry, the exterior can be an invitation of sorts for what’s inside and the interior can celebrate their investment to your brand or promote the best use of the product)

  • A thank you note matters (from small businesses it’s a major plus!)

  • A statement of eco-friendly packaging matters (people care about doing their part and businesses that choose eco-friendly packaging that is able to be recycled or repurposed makes all the difference for their customers)

Now that you know what matters, you can prepare a list of ideas to design yourself or outsource to a designer like us! Happy packaging, friends!
