Website Management Checklist

Picture this: You’re a small biz owner with a million things to do and you just want to do the fun things. Maybe you outsource your website management to another business (like us!) or you schedule one day a month for you to review your site and make any necessary changes. This blog post is for you whether you or someone else manages your site, it’s always good to refresh your site with new and up to date information!

Let’s break down management into four sections you won’t want to miss:

  1. Home page

    • Your home page is the first thing someone sees. If you have a lot going on in your email newsletter and social media, you want to make sure your home page always has the latest highlight or Call to Action based on what you may be posting. If you’re a planner, add a Home page refresh event to your calendar when you know you have a new highlight for website visitors. The reality is that you never know who might log into your website, so you want to make sure you are relevant and timely as often as possible!

  2. Links

    • We don’t think your other navigation pages will need too much refreshing, unless major changes are occurring in your biz, so we find it best to schedule in 2 hours once a month to review your whole site and see what updates might need to take place, especially links! Links are often overlooked but you definitely want to make sure all your links are still functioning and relevant.

  3. Back end details

    • When it comes to the back end of your website, you’re going to want to make sure you scroll through your pages, your blog posts, and event posts to make sure all elements (photos, videos, copywriting, links, forms, etc) are working properly and are still relevant to your business. Again, we find it best to schedule in 2 hours once a month to review all the pages on your site.

    • Another back end detail is to make sure your commerce store is up to date inventory wise.

  4. Analytics

    • It’s high time that we fall in love with analytics. Analytics tell the story of your business. From high traffic days, most viewed blogs, bestselling products, and more details, analytics of your site not only reveal your progress, but also the potential for growth! Set 1 hour aside every month to review your analytics and merge the data with your communication strategy, testing out new ways to level up your presence with your audience!
