Thank You Card Must Haves

You’re sending out a package to a new (or returning) customer… and you know you want to include a thank you card, but you don’t know what it should have. You’re in luck! We’re going to tell you a few variations of thank you cards that you can tailor to fit your brand!

  • Traditional: This thank you card is simple and straightforward. It has a thank you for shopping with us message and perhaps an invitation to share their unboxing or shop again soon. This card may or may not have a signature from the business owner.

  • Mindful: This thank you card is hand written with the customer or recipient’s name. The business owner took a few minutes to write out a thoughtful thank you message and a note on enjoying the product or experience. Often, this card will include a brand bio within the card or inserted into the card (as a smaller postcard).

  • Playful: This thank you card encourages full engagement with the customer or recipient. The brand may have an ongoing bingo with its customers, a “unlock this secret product” message, an invitation to join a private customer community, or other activity that customers can take action with. This thank you doesn’t stress gratitude in a traditional sense, instead it nurtures that customer further along the customer journey.

Regardless of which type of thank you card you move forward with, there are an over-arching essentials.

The first is to include a call to action or way for your customer to participate. Include your social media handle and invite your customers to tag you or use your hashtag (if you have one). Another option is to urge them to share their experience via a review and spell out where they can do so-let them know their voice matters to you!

Secondly, specificity is important. You want your thank you card to be versatile if you have multiple products, so you don’t necessarily need to say “thank you for purchasing x product”, but try to communicate what your customer’s purchase means to you. This can look like, “thank you for supporting my dream of x” or “thank you for putting your faith in me”, or even “I hope this purchase brings you joy”. There are tons of options when it comes to shopping, so what does it mean that your customer chose to shop with YOU?

So, now that we’ve given you some ideas, which type of thank you card do you feel pulled to try for your brand?
