Interview Tips

Now is the time to seek out interviews!

Interviews are a great way to get your name and work out there (think of it like a permanent shout out on someone’s blog). Interviews are an open space to share your story as you want a new audience to experience you or your business. Let’s dive in!

The best platforms to be a guest on will be magazines that feature small businesses. Try to reach out to bloggers that follow you as well and see if they have room in their blog to interview you. The more places that you are able to reach, the better.

Your business grows by word of mouth and recommendations with spotlights like this. A single view or share could be a potential sale or follower for you.

Before you reach out, make sure you have portraits of yourself, your team, and your business readily available to submit to the magazine or blogger, that way they have the proper tools to accompany your interview and display your brand best.

We highly encourage talking up the way you started your business and what you currently do and its impact on people. If you are able to, keep a log of blog posts that you’ve done, if they are on the internet you could very well try to follow up with them in future months or years to update their blog post or see if they’d be willing to do a follow-up interview to feature new additions and changes with your business!

GENERAL TIPS

Ensure that you have an up to date photo of you and your product/brand. Try to update your social media posts to show a recent post that welcomes new followers. Make sure that you don’t focus on making a sale, but rather connecting! Your interviewer wants to learn more about you and what inspired you to create. Have fun with it!
